There is nothing to remove as it is all attached. All you have to do is tear one, or two, pieces of garlic away from the bulb and remove the skin. Then. place the pieces of garlic in the middle of the press with the holes in it and then with both hands, squeeze both sides of the press together until the garlic comes through the press.

When I use my garlic press and am making spaghetti sauce, when I am ready to add garlic, I just place to garlic cloves in this press, with both hands squeeze it together and allow the minced garlic to fall into the sauce. It could not be any easier. If there is any remaining garlic in the press, just take a knife and the garlic will fall into the sauce.
